What is the Southern California Tasting and Auction?

The inaugural Southern California Tasting & Auction is an open-air gathering to take place in the picturesque setting of the W.K. Kellogg Commemorative Rose Garden and the Aratani Japanese Garden on Sunday, May 4th, 2008. 

Guests will mingle with friends, savor fabulous wines and enticing cuisine samples from some of Southern California's most popular restaurants, as well as enjoy lively musical entertainment. Guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy and participate in lively bidding during the silent and live auctions for opportunities to win great items such as fine wines, desirable dining and travel experiences, and numerous other goods and services including unique packages specific to Cal Poly Pomona.

The event will also serve to highlight the university's invaluable impact and contributions to the region.

Where will proceeds from this event go?

Proceeds from the event will benefit Cal Poly Pomona's 21,000+ students by providing scholarships and academic enrichment opportunities.

Is the event open to anyone who purchases a ticket?

Guests must be 21 and over to attend the event.

What is the cost to attend the event?

A general admission ticket costs $100 and a VIP admission ticket costs $250.

What is included in the ticket price?

$100 - General Admission includes:         

  • Entry to the event
  • Wine Glass & Plate/Glass Holder w/Logo

$250 -VIP Admission includes:

  • Entry to the event 15 minutes prior to start
  • Wine Glass & Plate/Glass Holder w/Logo
  • Invitation to a VIP reception honoring the life and legacy of Carl Karcher
  • VIP Parking
  • Opportunity to bid early on select Auction items

How do I purchase tickets?

You can purchase tickets by filling out the ticket purchase form which can be found by clicking here. After you have completely filled out the form, you may fax it to (909) 869-2118 or e-mail it to dmholman@csupomona.edu. You may also purchase tickets by calling (909) 869-4706. 

After I submit my ticket request, when will tickets be mailed to me?

Tickets will be mailed within a few days after they are processed.

Is the online registration site secure?

Yes. We use the most secure online technology called Secure Socket Layers or SSL that encrypts your personal and credit card information while transferring it from your internet browser to the our servers. You can also view the double security of the little yellow lock that will appear on the bottom of your browser window.

Can I purchase tickets at the door?

Due to capacity limitations it is highly anticipated that the event will be SOLD OUT prior to the event date. Therefore, we can not guarantee that tickets will be available at the door.

Since the event begins at 2pm and ends at 6pm does it matter what time I arrive?

You may arrive and check in any time between 2 pm and 6 pm, however, in order to take full advantage of the tasting, enjoy the entertainment, peruse and bid on silent auction items and enjoy the live auction as a bidder or spectator, you'll want to arrive early and give yourself plenty of time to experience it all.  VIP ticket holders will be admitted at 1:45 to be the first to taste and bid!

What about parking?

Parking for the event is included in the price of your ticket and will be available at the event site. Accessible and Preferred Parking for VIP ticket holders is also available at the event site. Please check the appropriate event signage when entering the campus on event day. Provisions will be made for those requiring assistance to and from their vehicles to the venue via motorized cart.
